The
whisper of winter caresses my window every morning. The sounds of festivity
rings close to my ears, as I step out to shop. Figuring out ‘what to wear’
to wear this season is only half the battle; keeping it subtle and yet sparkling
is the other part of the challenge. In my search for the perfect ensemble I
learnt a few tricks. Color is most certainly in. Shouting pink, pious orange,
sunny saffron but all in small measures and despite all designer’s insisting
its all about gold, silver has certainly not lost any of its sheen.
Swarovski
may have got dearer but designers splatter it with naïve abandon- to a
fantastic finish. Ivory, Beige, Pink, Lilac, Gold, touches of Blue are worked
with refinement. It’s certainly not zardorzi but the softer Farsi work
with old Raj and Mogul Motifs that is being sown in by the gurus of glam. Sequins
splashed; threadwork teases and tempts every seam of ‘occasion attire’.
Tarun Tahiliani, Satya Paul, Rakha & Rabhani and Rohit Bal provide temptation
even for the most savvy shopper.
